Marbleized Art

I have been experimenting with the ancient art of marbling paper for over 25 years now but have in recent years started to create collage artworks and paper jewellery from my hand marbled papers.
I use a hybridised form of marbling technique, incorporating aspects of both the Japanese 'Suminagashi' method and the later Turkish 'Ebru' method.

While on my Arts Study Tour of Italy in 2019, I received fabulous news that I'd been awarded a Veolia Mulwaree Trust Scholarship in support of that venture. My main study focus for the trip was to advance my skills in paper marbling through attending workshops and studios of the masters in this craft. Florence and Venice are the key centres for maintaining this ancient skill, during my time there I visited approximately 8 workshops and spoke with the artisans about technique and information exchanges.
